I picked a really good month to start eating at home. In late February — because my March resolutions chart told me to — I began meal planning, grocery shopping, and prepping to not eat out. Because of this, I didn’t really notice until much later than normal that the rest of the world was no longer in array.
I remember going to the grocery store one Saturday and thinking it was really, really busy, but I just chalked it up to being a Saturday. This is why I never go on Saturdays.
But no. It’s a global pandemic. Dammit.
It feels a little silly celebrating my grades for March, but what else am I going to do? I’m not supposed to leave my couch.
But, anyway, I nailed it. I got straight A’s and only dropped one resolution. Not to brag, but I also received a lot of A+s. Really, it’s a pretty glorious report card.
A+s
Workout
I worked out an astonishing 1,567 minutes, for an average of more than 50 minutes per day. I’m impressed. Most of the workouts were demanding, punishing, draining, sweaty and wonderful. I’m up to a 40-day streak.
I got back up to a two minute plank by adding a few seconds each day.
Eat something green
I love this resolution. Mostly it makes me add spinach or avocado to whatever I’m eating.
Remember that appearance is a consequence of fitness
I yelled out this phrase when I was planking. No, I didn’t because I’m not a yeller, but I thought it to myself quietly many times while working out.
Clean something
Practice humility
This is one of the pillars of joy. I don’t really know what it means to practice humility and I didn’t have a plan for it and just gave myself a smiley face for it.
A’s
Meditation
Timer for 60 (book)
No sugar

Eat at home/don’t eat out
Like I said, I picked a good month to start eating at home. In the beginning of the month, instead of inviting friends out to dinner, I invited them to my home to eat a meal I prepared.
There are so few downsides to eating at home. I’ve found it to be so much cheaper and so much healthier. I cooked something every day and sent pictures to my mom to keep me accountable. After a while, it becomes rather zen, chopping vegetables and contemplating the food while it cooked.
I’m proud of this grade because I actually really dislike cooking. That’s the only downside to cooking at home.
Dropped resolutions
Count protein
After two days I stopped counting my protein intake because I hate doing that kind of stuff.
How’d you do in March?
A great time for simple basics, and living purposefully.
Now if only I could do the 2 others, go outside and see family =)
But this is fine for now.
Yeah, I miss those two things myself
Congrats Thriftygal! I did really well too π A+ for gratitude and skincare (my mom even complimented me). A for not eating out/having takeout (hah) and daily reading. I dropped tracking my fruits and vegetable intake. Here’s to April (no joke)! How often do you grocery shop these days?
I aim for once a week, but this last stretch, I lasted ten days before I had to go to the grocery store.
Tracking sucks so I don’t blame you for dropping the fruit/veggie thing
I did pretty well this month too!
As: eat a veggie; be active; get outside; journal
B: sleep 7h or more
Cs: daily ab workout; drink 1L of water; <25g of added sugar
no Fs!
Thanks for sharing your monthly resolutions! I enjoy your posts π
Of course!
Tracking your sugar intake is a pain and I’m impressed with your C grade for it. π
What is your grading structure? How do you determine what is an A or B or C?
These are the Qs that matter – that Ron Burgundy would ask.
Hey Shane! The Thriftygal generic chart is here with instructions π https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GG-009QhzbGnznM7cAYYSum8me1PRl-NLJsqKh3t4Cc/htmlview#
Thanks for answering for me! I forgot that I had posted and didn’t think to log in to check for comments.
Thank you Lei!
Very impressed! The grades are set quite high. I like the delineation between 30 day months and 31 day months π
I didn’t do leap year February. 29 days.
Nerd-stings! π
Have done the first 4 days of April – hopefully will keep it up til end of April
(should keeping filling up the Excel be a goal in itself – should I make it an entry? π Sorry – ignore me – gone nerd-squared.)
I think it will be a useful tool in trying to create embed new habits.
It’s almost the end of April! (holy cow, did I not check my blog in weeks!). How are you doing?
In the chaos of the pandemic and moving to remote work, I totally ditched my March chart and didnβt make one for April. The resolutions I had when working at the office every day didnβt serve me as well at home. Thatβs okay though, still keeping up some healthy habits like daily exercise.
Yeah, I’m not doing great on April resolutions. In the chaos, it feels a little pointless.
It normally takes me 2 hours to get to and from work everyday…
That’s an extra 40 hours I’ve gotten to spend with my family since the lockdown started
I’m literally watching my daughter grow up!
Yes there are a lot of negatives in the world at the moment. But this is a positive.
One of the perks of early retirement if you have a kid! You get to be there as much as you like!
Thrifty Girl, good to hear you are still in array and, I’m guessing, very hevelled (or “heveled”, as you would spell it in America, you know… if it was a real word.)
lol. I admit that I did look up heveled to see if it was a word. π
Anita, How is the situation at your place? I hear in news that there are long queues at super markets etc. Do you go out for walks?
I go out for walks to maintain my sanity and the lines at the grocery stores are bad some days and nonexistent some days. It’s hard to predict!
Could anyone help me find the original post on how to make a resolutions chart? I’d like to start one but am a little aimless. Thanks!

Here is the first post I wrote about a resolutions chart. I hope that helps!!
