Want something free?

By | December 7, 2017

Have you read The Simple Path to Wealth by JL Collins yet? This book outlines the investment strategy I use. I read it in one night and told you about it here.

Do you like listening to audio books? I’ve tried, but I stop paying attention after a couple of minutes. I’m a visual learner. That’s an unnecessary tangent.

Would you like a free audio book version of The Simple Path to Wealth? The author narrated it and he has a voice that was made for other people, so I suspect it’s a good listening experience.

Leave a comment and I’ll pick two winners at random and email you the code for the free audio book.

Sweepstakes legalese

  • Prize: The prize is a free copy of the audio book, The Simple Path to Wealth by JL Collins, from Audible. Amazon currently lists the value at $17.95. I did not realize that audio books were so pricey.
  • Duration: Sweepstakes starts December 7, 2017 when I publish this post and ends December 14, 2017 at midnight eastern standard time.
  • How to enter: Leave a comment and make sure your email address is correct. That’s how I’ll email you with the code if you win.
  • Who can enter: Entrants must be over eighteen years of age and reside in the United States. I don’t want to research giveaway rules for all the countries. That seems like a lot of work.
  • How the winner is chosen: I will count the number of comments and then ask this website to generate a random number. For instance, if there are 13 comments, I will ask it to pick a number between one and thirteen. If it picks the number twelve and you are the twelfth comment, you win! I will do that twice because Jim (JL Collins) gave me two free codes.
  • How the winner will be notified: I’ll email the winners the codes. I’ll also put a comment at the end of the contest with the winners so you know it’s all above board.
  • How the prize will be delivered: I’ll email the winners the code to claim their prize. The winner can then claim it on audible.com

No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited by law. The number of eligible entries received determines the odds of winning. My cat’s breath smells like cat food.

Edited to add – I’m going to delete your second+ comment. One entry per person. I hate moderating comments, so please don’t do that.

You should convert your cat to a vegan lifestyle. Feed it watermelon.
Alternatively, add mouthwash to its drinking water.
For all your very serious followers, and you seem to have a disproportionate number of those, considering how funny your writing is, I’m from Australia and over here we *can* outrun our bears, and if we tried to fight them, because we’ve been lifting weights, they would scratch our six-packs.

Ooh ooh ooh. Me me me. Want want want.

This is an official comment submitted for the audible sweepstakes game ending dec 14, 2017. May the most random comment win.

Pick me! Pick me! I want something free that will make me rich. Bonus points for no packing materials and no enviro-destructive shipping. Yay.

Do you like listening to audio books?
Given the choice, I’d prefer to read, but as I can’t do that whilst I’m driving, audio books/podcasts come a close second.

Would you like a free audio book version of The Simple Path to Wealth?
    I’d love one!

  4. Claudia

That’s such a great book and I’d love to hear him read it. I’ve given copies to our kids and have recommended it to many people. Thanks for doing this.

  5. Darren

As a minimalist, free stuff doesn’t usually appeal, but this is worth a punt.

As with Jonny and yourself, print is my preferred medium, but an audio book would be welcome.

  6. M. Kosinski

I like your posts. I discovered you quite by accident. Keep doing what you are doing.

For a free audiobook from JL Collins I’ll finally leave a comment.

Thriftygal, I found your website from the MMM blog and have been reading your posts for over a year now. Always enjoyable and easy to relate to.

I normally try to drive as little as possible but I do have a 13 mile commute everyday (in my Nissan Leaf – purchased before MMM) so I’d love to “hear” what JL has to say, rather than always reading.

Keep up the wit, the posts, and the interesting take on life and hope you have a good Christmas.

Woohooooo I’d love an audio book! Especially if it helps make me wiser about personal finances.

  11. Alicia Johnson

Your ability to retire so early is impressive! I’m new to your blog and didn’t know that many of your tactics came from this book. I guess it’s time to explore 🙂

  12. TheTeaBoy

A simple path to wealth, definitely the best book out there on early retirement, highly recommended

  13. Laura

Love free things! I saw a news article all about why dogs feet smell like Fritos corn chips.

  14. Sam

I likey audio books since I travel a lot. Jim’s OK too. Ha!

  15. A

Awwww man! An awesome giveaway from one of the few blogs I read regularly…which is largely about traveling …and my domicile renders me ineligible…crushed. Well, slightly flattened or maybe lightly deflated, expect i’ll rebound in time to order the book m’self.

  16. Henry

    Excited to enter this contest!

I subscribe to several blogs for updates, and yours is the only one that I read in full each time it is sent. Keep up the great work!

  17. Anita too

I’d love to listen to this audiobook. I try listening to audiobooks while jogging and like you stop paying attention at some point. But I would love to give this one a shot. The one audiobook I have gotten through from start to finish was light chick lit, Jane Green’s “Summer Secrets.”

  18. Julie

Thank you for the giveaway. I haven’t read the book yet. I appreciate visual learning, too.

  19. Andy

Bart, I’m sorry but, I kind of traded your soul to the guy at the comic book store. I got $1 worth of these awesome pogs though!

  20. Virgie BRIGHT-ELLINGTON

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Thriftygal, for sharing your insight and wisdom and how that brilliant precious brain of yours works!

  21. Lucy

I already got it for free! Our library just ordered the audiobook version 😉 I think Audible is a scam — go to your local library!!!

  22. Ramy

Thanks for offering that. Great book. Will make a great Christmas gift.

  23. Bob

First I have to say……….love your blog!
Secondly……I’d love to check out the audiobook! I’m a big podcast listener and for whatever reason have not gotten into audiobooks yet!

    Thanks!
    Keep up the great posting!

  24. jenlien6

I would love to read (or listen to) The Simple Path to Wealth. I just had a baby and listening will be easier than reading right now!

  27. typeiifunblog

Hey girl, if you are still in CO let me return the free favor! Lets meet up at Red Rocks on a Sunday morning for this amazing free group fitness class (It Burns Joe Fitness). It’s super fun and is the fast track to 6 pack land.

  28. Renee S Quistorf

  30. Grant & Rachel

    Hi Thrifty Gal!

My wife, who BTW is a U of Chicago grad too, and I have been reading your blog for several months. Keep up the good work! We enjoy your incites 🤗. We live in Wheat Ridge CO if still in the state. We love to meet you sometime if I can write that without being to forward.

  31. Elizabeth

I’ve been meaning to re-read this book, but listening to it would be even better!

  32. Jenn

I have read this book and LOVE it! I re-read parts of it frequently. I have been trying desperately to have my husband read it. Unfortunately, he is a “read himself to sleep” kind of guy. So, no progress has been made. Audio version would be perfect for us! 🤞🏼

  33. Mary Jennings

I’d love the book too. You should mention your book too. It’s very good!

  34. Jack Williamson

With Audible, the next generation will never have to learn to read!
“Me fail English? That’s unpossible.” – Ralph Wiggum 🙂

  35. Kira

First-time commenter here (made my way over here from MMM). I somehow just started reading JL Collins’ blog, and didn’t even realize an audiobook existed. Hooray for “reading” while driving — it’s the only thing that gets me through my crazy, average commute that I’m trying to eliminate.

  36. Sanjeev Goyal

Hi, I would like the free audio version for “The Simple Path to Wealth”. My email is sanjeev_goyal@hotmail.com. I am picking up the “Grit” book from the library tonight.

  37. Frances

I would absolutely LOVE to listen to JL Collins’ audiobook!

  38. Val

“A voice that was made for other people”. His baritone should be shared!

  39. Krysta Stewarts

Thanks for the great give-away! Wishing you well during your last travels of 2017!

  40. mmmKrispy

What, an audio book, not the real book?!? Sadly (or rather happily, for me!), I’m also a visual learner and don’t like audio books, so do NOT pick me! But it’s a good reminder for me to request the book from the library. =)

  41. Rose

I am still laughing at the Australian Bear joke..Left in the comments by Graham. Now let me tell you a CANADIAN bear story. Or maybe I won’t. Have a lovely Christmas and New year and thanks for hosting this giveaway.

  42. Lisa

Audiobooks are fantastic when you’re stuck in your car

  43. Liz S.

  49. Mary Rae

Been following this blog ever since you appeared on MMM, but never had a reason to post. Thank you for this opportunity! I especially love your book reviews and your writing style.
